Our Ingredients, Your Ingredients

homemade dinner mixYou add the meat, and we give you everything necessary to meet all accepted standards for the micronutrient content of dog foods for all life stages.

You can add only the meat and have a great meal.  Or, if desired at times, you can add, up to 20% by volume of the meal, freshly ground vegetables, nuts, sardines, and other whole foods.  For more information, see our articles.  (Adding sardines to all types of dog foods is especially important for pregnant and lactating moms).

Your Ingredients

We recommend mixing See Spot Live Longer™ Homemade Dinner Mixes with 85% lean meats – beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, venison and others.  For puppies, who need more protein, we recommend using 90% lean meats.  Feed a variety of meats for optimum nutrition.

Serve the meat raw or cooked.  Either way, it makes a nutritious, mineral-rich, AAFCO-compliant, high-protein, low-carbohydrate, natural diet.

If you’re using fattier meats, please follow the feeding guidelines below.  Fattier meats have more calories per pound than leaner meats.  Dogs, though, still need the same amount of micronutrients whether they’re fed fatty or lean diets. Therefore, when feeding fattier meats, please mix the package with less food, and feed your dog less food.

80% lean: mix one package (34 grams) with 3/4 pound of meat.  Feed 3/4 of recommended amounts on package.

75% lean: mix one package (34 grams) with 2/3 pounds of meat.  Feed 2/3 of recommended amounts on package.
